What is GPS?
Global Positioning System (GPS), is a global navigation satellite system that provides positioning, timing and navigational services to people around the world. GPS provides a continuous service that works in all types of weather from anywhere on or near the Earth.
GPS is made up of three parts: satellites orbiting the earth, receivers owned by owners and stations monitored here on Earth. GPS is free to all users; you just need to purchase the GPS receiver of choice, with the features you want.
GPS is applicable to timing, roads highways, space, aviation, agriculture, rail, marine, environment, public safety, surveying and recreation. Once you own a GPS unit you should never get lost again. |
